Looking to replace a tree lost in that crazy windstorm in March? Head over to Belle Isle on Saturday! The Detroit Tree Recovery Campaign – a partnership between the Arbor Day Foundation and Michigan Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry Program– will distribute up to 1,000 containerized trees this Saturday for residents of Detroit.

A variety of trees will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Detroit residents can take one tree (just one!). Tree distribution starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Band Shell parking lot along Loiter Way.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to join the Arbor Day Foundation and sponsors in partnership to help Detroit rebuild it tree canopy after emerald ash borer and the recent windstorm” said Kevin Sayers, DNR Urban and Community Forestry Program Coordinator. “Because of the Community Tree Recovery’s donation, residents can enjoy the beauty and benefits these trees will provide.”
