This new listing in the University District has five bedrooms, plenty of original charm, and historic Detroit pedigree. Former Detroit mayor Jerome Cavanagh lived in this house while he was in office from 1962-1970. The house has been maintained throughout the years, with leaded glass, Pewabic tiles, crown moldings, and elaborate medallions in the ceiling. At 3,312 square feet, it’s listing for $399,000.

The house has two master suites included in its five bedrooms, three full and two half baths, a library, and air conditioning (hey, you can’t find that everywhere). The basement also has a large rec area big enough for entertaining. The backyard is a little small, but there’s a garage in the back. Could the new owners update some of the rooms? Maybe. But all in all, it’s a nice big family house in a great neighborhood. Is the price an indicator of what we’ll see in the coming months? That is likely. Have a look around.
