Is the red orb lit up at the Penobscot Building for good?

We hope so!

Curbed tipsters told us something we’ve been waiting to hear for a while -- the red orb atop the Penobscot Building was seen shining again this weekend.

Triple Properties bought the Penobscot Building in 2012 and the red orb briefly radiated for a few months in the summer and fall of 2015. Triple Properties also hinted at reopening the observation deck atop the skyscraper for a while. We will cosign on that idea — it would be an attraction that downtown needs.

The Caucus Club, an iconic old school chop house, recently reopened in the Penobscot Building.

Could the red orb be a sign of more to come? Is it just shining for the QLINE? An instagram post from the Penobscot Building last year hinted at more to come this year. (Their website still doesn’t work, though). Let us know if you see it, Curbed readers and send us your pics. We’ll post more when we know more.
