Update: This event has been cancelled.

National Get Outdoors Day is Saturday, June 10 and this year, Detroiters will have a unique opportunity to celebrate in Midtown. Camping on Canfield will engage guests with local businesses and turn the popular Midtown street into a park and campground. The new event is being organized through Filson Detroit.

Two options are available. Day campers can enjoy the activities, including treats and entertainment from businesses like Jolly Pumpkin, Third Man Records, and Detroit History Tours. Sites for overnight camping are still available for those with an airstream, vintage camper, or tent.

Events include a scavenger hunt, QLINE tour, urban forest and historical home tour, and Pure Detroit tours of the Fisher and Guardian Buildings.

Day camper wristbands are $25. Overnight camping tickets run $50 per person, plus campsite fees ($125 for airstream or trailer, $75 for tent). Prices will increase after Memorial Day. Overnight campers receive a swag bag, commemorative ornament, pizza buffet, ice cream, and breakfast.

Day camper tickets can be purchased here, while Overnight Camper tickets can be purchased through the Camping on Canfield website.
