Detroit home comparisons: What $100K can buy right now

New, 3 comments

We’ve seen some decent properties listed for around $100,000 lately, so we’re looking at four more that have recently listed. We found a couple duplexes, a co-op with views, and a single-family home. Which would you choose?

1300 E Lafayette Street Unit 908

We’ll start with an attractive co-op in Lafayette Park. This 9th floor unit has one bedroom, one bath, and a small kitchen in its 782 square feet. It’s listing for $85,000, but HOA fees run $1,020 per month for that co-op life.

16900 Muirland Street

This three bedroom, 2,274-square-foot home just south of the University District had an unfortunate photo shoot in the rain. It seems to be in fairly reasonable shape, with a typical reno in parts and some original details left. It’s listed for $100,000.

16871 Baylis Street

This duplex is located just a few blocks away from the home above. Each unit has three bedrooms, a full bath, and some big fireplaces. Seriously, that first one is a monolith. It’s over 3,100 square feet and it’s listing for $99,900.

14050 Mansfield Street

This Grandmont-Rosedale duplex has been converted to a single-family home, but the new owner can choose either. It has five bedrooms, two baths, and a heck of a basement bar. It’s listed for $100,000.
