105-year-old Hubbard Farms home seeks $200K

Photos by Michelle & Chris Gerard

We seem to be seeing some patterns this year in certain neighborhoods. For some reason, a lot of houses on Hubbard and Vinewood in Southwest Detroit have gone up for sale recently. It’s a great, dense neighborhood with a variety of restaurants, shops, apartment buildings, duplexes, and single-family homes. The condition of the homes varies, of course. This new listing is in decent condition, but could use some updates. Its asking price is $199,900, or $80 per square foot.

Like many others, it has lovely woodwork and hardware through the living spaces. The kitchen is old and a little disconnected. The back porch looks like it could use some work. There’s a basement for storage and space on the third floor to renovate for an extra bedroom or office. The dining room has great built-ins. The house has four bedrooms, but only one bathroom. It’s listed through O’Connor Real Estate.
