Detroit apartments: What $1,000 can rent right now

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals within $100 of today’s price: $1,000.


4711 Second Avenue, Apartment 31

Today we’ll start in Midtown, right at the corner of Second and Forest. It’s a one bedroom, one bath, cat (but not dog) friendly apartment building. The apartment itself has sharp black and white finishes. Street parking only, but it’s close to Wayne State. It’s renting for $1,050 per month, water and heat included in rent.


1130 Parker Street, Apartment 116

Our price point can also get a one bedroom, one bath, cat (but not dog) friendly apartment in West Village. It has hardwood floors and a tiny kitchen, and it’s located right next to shops and restaurants. It’s renting for $950 per month, with a $50 flat fee for utilities.


7411 Second Avenue

Here’s another one bedroom, one bath available right now. This one is in the Fisher-Kahn Apartments in New Center, right across from the Fisher Building. For $1,050 per month, this apartment has hardwood floors, a balcony, a common courtyard, and a gated parking space. Water is included with rent.


4535 Commonwealth

This one bedroom, one bath apartment is located in a large house in Woodbridge. For $925 per month, there’s hardwood floors, historic charm, a balcony, and a parking spot in the back. It’s located near Midtown and Wayne State, and heat and water are included.


80 Melbourne Street

Or maybe you need a full house. This four bedroom, two bath home is located in the North End. It has historic charm, wood floors, big windows, and a large front porch. It’s close to both East Grand Boulevard and Woodward, and it’s renting for $995 per month.
