Fitness and athletic-wear fans will have another place to shop in downtown starting on September 22. Lululemon will open its doors at 1459 Woodward, the location most recently occupied by Kit and Ace.

The new store will take over 3,000 square feet of space. They’re partnering with Playground Detroit in bringing artistic contributions by Ellen Rutt, Haley Stone, and a large mural by Arlin Graff. The space will also have photos of its Detroit fitness ambassadors by Hayden Steinbaugh.

This Lululemon location is called a Detroit Local—an “impact hub” providing monetary support to the Downtown Boxing Gym via Lululemon’s global impact program “Here To Be.”

The opening day will feature local food, beverages, and activities, including a run at 4 p.m. with WeWork and Run This Town. On Sunday, September 24, the store will offer free yoga with ambassadors Dan Gottlieb and Adria Mose.

The store will be open Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 12-5 p.m.

The store will be right down the street from both Nike and Under Armour, which have opened on Woodward in the past year and a half.
