In September, Amazon announced they’re looking for a major city to set up their next headquarters. This isn’t just another office; it’s a major investment of up to $5 billion and 50,000 jobs.
Detroit might be a long shot, but a regional team led by Dan Gilbert is coming together to make a bid. We have the space and the talent, but our lack of public transportation could hold us back.
Could one of our new developments, like the Hudson’s site or the Monroe blocks, be a good fit? Or could a combination of a rehabbed building plus a new development work for the bid? Is the region able to band together for an opportunity like this?
The deadline for bids is October 19.
