We often see trucks selling food or ice cream, but for the past couple years in Detroit, we can also add flowers to the list. Last spring, Lisa Waud took her flower business Pot and Box on the road to push petals into the neighborhoods. Curbed’s video team recently rode along during an afternoon driving through the east side and setting up shop outside The Red Hook in West Village.
Waud arranges flowers early in the day, then stops outside of local businesses in neighborhoods. Throughout the summer, she’s taken the truck to Tech Town, New Center, Midtown, Corktown, downtown, Hamtramck, and West Village. By taking her business mobile, she’s able to partner with local businesses and engage with more of the community, creating a “beautiful urban experience.”
Waud is also behind the beautiful Flower House exhibit, which garnered international recognition. More on her business Pot and Box can be found here.
