Apartment comparisons: What $900 rents in Detroit right now

Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals within $100 of today’s price: $900.


17358 Prest Street

This three bedroom, one bath home is located near West Outer Drive and Greenfield. The kitchen is small, the living room has a fireplace, and the basement has retro panelling. No pets allowed, but it does have a yard. It’s listing for $850 per month.


16667 Ardmore Street

This three-bedroom brick house is located a few blocks to the east of the first, and offers a little more living space. This one also has a fenced yard, and it’s listed for $850.


750 Chene Street

If you’re looking to live closer to downtown, this one bedroom, one bath apartment is available at the Elmwood Park Plaza Apartments. The building has a fitness center and it’s pet friendly (under 35 lbs.), with gated parking. It’s located a few blocks from the riverfront and right in-between downtown and West Village. It’s renting for $855 per month.


459 Prentis

Over in Midtown, this one bedroom, one bath, newly renovated apartment is almost ready. Heat and water are included in rent, and they allow pets. This apartment is close to Wayne State and the QLine, and it’s listed for $900 a month.


Second & Forest

If you don’t need much space, this one-bedroom apartment in Midtown delivers. It’s 450 square feet, with a charming fireplace and clawfoot tub. The kitchen is tiny, though. It’s also near Wayne State and the QLine, and it’s listing for $950 per month. Street parking only!
