Curbed Comparisons: What $1,800 rents in Detroit right now

Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. Last week we looked at $900 rentals around the city. This week, we’re doubling our budget and looking at rentals within $100 of today’s price: $1,800.

2950 Field Street

First up is this two bedroom, two bath unit in Islandview. Yes, Islandview. Located on Field Street near Mack Avenue, this apartment has fresh updates, big rooms, a huge fenced backyard, and air conditioning. It’s 1,400 square feet and listing for $1,795 per month.

18066 Warrington Drive

Over in the University District, this four bedroom, two and a half bath home is in our price range. It has a new kitchen, some older charm, and a finished basement with a bar. It’s located between 6 and 7 Mile, just off of Livernois. The brick house is 2,500 square feet and available for $1,750 per month.

Lafayette at Orleans

Closer to downtown, a two bedroom, two bath apartment is available at DuCharme Place, which opened last spring. You’ll get a modern, upgraded apartment, a fitness center in the complex, a pool, and lots of outdoor space. It’s available for $1,700 per month.

3500 East Jefferson Ave

Located along the waterfront near Belle Isle, a two bedroom, two bath apartment is available at Water’s Edge. This newer development has a clubhouse, a pool, a fitness center, and easy access to the Riverwalk. This one is coming in at the higher end of our budget at $1,895 per month.

Second at Amsterdam

If you’re looking for a shadowy loft in New Center, this two bedroom unit is available at the Lofts at New Amsterdam. This loft has exposed brick, an open layout, big windows, and a washer and dryer in unit. It’s located right in the middle of a lot of new development and it’s listing for $1,900 per month.
