What $1,200 rents in Detroit and the suburbs

With apartments in Detroit, Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Dearborn

Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods and the suburbs. This week we’re looking at rentals within $100 of today’s price: $1,200.

In East English Village, here’s a four bedroom, one bath renovated home coming in at our price range. It has refinished floors, new electrical, and a fireplace. It’s close to shops and restaurants in Grosse Pointe, and it’s renting for $1,200, plus utilities.

This three-bedroom townhouse is just outside West Village, adjacent to Indian Village. It’s 1,400 square feet and has laundry and a fireplace. It’s close to some shops and restaurants and it’s about three miles outside of downtown. It rents for $1,250 per month.

Maybe you want to live in a place that looks more like a storefront. This unusual Royal Oak rental has two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths over 1,165 square feet, plus laundry, storage, and parking. It’s located close to 696 with easy access to 75 and it’s listing for $1,200 per month.

Here’s a light, bright two-bedroom, one-bath apartment in Ferndale. This unit has hardwood floors, a fireplace, built-ins, original detailing, a sun room, and access to a yard. It’s on the southern end of Ferndale, close to 8 Mile. It’s listed for $1,100 per month, plus utilities.

Over in Dearborn, here’s a 1,200-square-foot, two-bedroom, one-bath upper apartment in this week’s price range. It’s walking distance to many businesses and restaurants downtown, and close to Fairlane and Ford. It rents for $1,100 per month, plus utilities.
