Welcome to this week’s Curbed Comparisons, where we look at homes for sale in different neighborhoods around Detroit. Today, we’re looking at houses within $10,000 of our budget: $190,000.
This charming East English Village home has four bedrooms, two living rooms, new windows, air conditioning, hardwood floors, and two full bathrooms. It’s been maintained by the current owner for years, and has opportunities for cosmetic updates if needed. It’s located in a close-knit community on the east side, near many businesses in Grosse Pointe, and it’s listing for $189,000.
Coming in at $199,000 is this 2,241-square-foot, four-bedroom home near the waterfront in Jefferson-Chalmers. It still has a lot of its original character including a handsome fireplace, a lime green bathroom, hardwood floors, a very retro basement (with murals), and wood panelling. It also has some recent updates including the kitchen, a new roof, and new air conditioning. It sits on a corner lot with a two-car garage and ample backyard space.
This Garden Court condo pushes us just a little over this week’s price range—it’s listing at $199,900 with HOA fees of $318 per month. It’s in a historic building near the riverfront, with one bedroom and one bath. It comes with gated parking and access to a fitness center, plus it’s close to downtown and Belle Isle.
Here’s a nice, yet slightly dated home in Green Acres. This house, located on a double lot, has three bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, a new kitchen, and a lot of living space. It also has an attached garage and a huge backyard. It sits near 8 Mile, close to Ferndale and the shops along Livernois. It’s listing for $185,000.
This four-bedroom home in Grandmont-Rosedale has great curb appeal and plenty of outdoor space. The interior has been recently updated, with a new kitchen, original hardwood floors, fresh paint, and new bathroom tiling. It’s located on the city’s northwest side, near shopping and restaurants along Grand River Avenue, and it’s listing for $185,000.
