The price to buy in Midtown has increased sharply in the past few years. Most of the listings in the neighborhood are condos, with the occasional historic home for sale. Currently, single-family ecohomes are under construction in the neighborhood, priced at well over $300 per square foot for the new construction.
It’s rare to see a property come up for under $200 per square foot in the neighborhood. This unusual listing is for a ranch home right next to the Lodge. It dates back to 1900 and has two bedrooms and one bath over 1,100 square feet. It also has a large yard. It could use some sprucing up and the location could be looked at in both a positive and negative way. The owners will always have that traffic noise from the Lodge (which many get used to after a while). On the other hand, it’s very convenient to Wayne State, the Henry Ford Hospital, the Detroit Medical Center, and downtown. This could be a good entry point for someone looking to invest in the neighborhood. After an initial listing at $199,900, it’s currently listed for $169,900 through Jeff Glover.
