Which home or neighborhood would you choose?

Welcome to this week’s Curbed Comparisons, where we look at homes for sale in different neighborhoods around Detroit. Today, we’re looking at houses in both Detroit and the suburbs within $10,000 of our budget: $175,000.

This cute house in Ferndale has three bedrooms, one bath, built-ins, a tiny kitchen, a basement for storage, and a lofty upstairs. The house has a fairly big backyard and a two-car garage. It’s close to Ferndale High School and it’s listing for $174,900.

This three bedroom, one bath bungalow in Royal Oak may have a Rochester Road address, but it fronts to a service drive. It has many updates in recent years—refinished floors, paint, garage roof, appliances—and it has a basement for extra storage or living space. It’s listing for $180,000.

This brick house in Dearborn is a little bigger than the previous two at 1,300 square feet, with three bedrooms and two baths. It has newer finishes throughout, including extra living space in the basement. It’s located on the west side of Dearborn, and it’s listing for $174,500.

This brick house in Detroit is located close to the riverfront in Jefferson-Chalmers. It has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a fireplace in the living room, entertaining space in the backyard, and storage in the basement. It’s coming in at $175,000.

And in North Rosedale Park in northwest Detroit, here’s a newly revamped three-bedroom brick home. It has new finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms, new windows and mechanicals. It’s listing for $169,900.
