Which Detroit home would you rehab?

Today, we’re comparing a few Detroit properties currently up for sale, all in need of a complete renovation. They’re located in different neighborhoods and span a wide variety of price points. Which would you choose?

1402 Vinewood Street

For $80,000, here’s a three bedroom, 2,300+ square-foot home with celestial walls in Hubbard Farms. It dates back to 1900, and is located near Clark Park and plenty of stores and restaurants. We’ve seen many larger homes sell for over $250,000 in this neighborhood in the past year; is this a fair price for this amount of rehab in this neighborhood?

408 Horton Street

This multi-colored, multi-family house in the North End doesn’t include any interior photos, but the listing states it has six bedrooms, two staircases, and three residences. It’s listing for an ambitious $175,000, and it’s located a block off of East Grand Boulevard and a few blocks from Woodward. Real estate is wild in the North End.

1509 Atkinson Street

This fixer-upper on Atkinson Street just west of the Lodge is listing for $115,000. It’s just under 2,000 square feet with four bedrooms, a sun room, and a basement that’s a little troubling. It’s just outside of Boston-Edison, and many more homes in this area have been renovated in recent years.
