Detroit condo comparisons: What can you buy for under $200K?

For this week’s comparison, we’re taking a look at three condos in New Center, Lafayette Park, and Harbortown. Can you still get a good deal for under $200K? Which would you choose? Vote in our poll below.

7409 Second Ave Unit 4, $169,900

First is this one bedroom, one bath condo at the Fisher-Kahn Building right by the Fisher Building. It’s 740 square feet, with central heat and air and a covered balcony. Perfect for the person who wants to do laundry while they cook. HOA fees are $180 per month. The kicker? A gated parking space can be purchased for $12,000.

250 E Harbortown Drive, Unit 202, $176,900

For about the same size, this one bedroom, one bath Harbortown condo is available. It has newer finishes, a bigger kitchen, and amenities like pools and fitness centers. It’s also right next to the Riverfront, near Belle Isle and West Village. This one’s on the second floor, so it doesn’t have the best views. HOA fees run higher at $660 per month.

1300 East Lafayette, Unit 2509, $155,000

This Lafayette Park condo has more room at 1,309 square feet, plus views and amenities. It has two bedrooms, two baths, big windows, and a small kitchen. The building has fitness centers, pools, and a 24-hour concierge. Since it’s a co-op, it comes with a high HOA fee at $1,432 per month, which includes taxes, heat, air, maintenance, basic cable, security, and more. It’s close to downtown, the Riverfront, and Eastern Market.
