Live out your midcentury modern dreams here

Once in a while, we find the most beautiful houses tucked away in the quiet, wooded neighborhood of Old Redford. Today, we have a house that’s certain to spark the imagination of those who love midcentury design. It might also lead some Detroit house-hunters to consider buying a little further outside the downtown core. It’s a three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath 1951 ranch on a double lot. It needs plenty of work, but it still has much of its original character. The price? A cool $55,000.

The house has its original yellow kitchen, with the oven built into the wall. It also has a wall of windows overlooking the wooded backyard and a stunning built-in fireplace in the living room. You’ll find an attached garage and many mature trees on the lot. It’s located just off of Grand River, a few blocks north of the storefronts around the Redford Theatre, and is listed by Vincent Mazzola at O’Connor Real Estate.
