A Detroit furniture company known for its tables and bed frames is now adding a bigger, softer piece to its inventory. In October, Floyd will offer a sofa, and unlike any other company in the U.S., it will also offers same-day delivery.
Floyd aims at creating lasting furniture that is easy to put together. In designing this sofa, the company surveyed over 1,000 customers to understand what they might be looking for when buying a new one. They also tested hundreds of different cushions for comfort and durability.
The sofas come in a two-seater, three-seater, and three-seater with chaise. The frame is made of powder-coated steel and wood and cushion colors come in light blue, dark blue, mustard yellow, and light grey. Prices will range from $1,200-$1,600. The sofas will be offered for pre-order in September, with shipping starting in October.
“We’ve created our business model to solve for the most important needs of every room,” explains Kyle Hoff, Co-Founder and CEO of Floyd. “We’ve rethought products for the bedroom and kitchen with the Floyd Bed, Table, and Side Table, and we’re excited to solve for the most important product of the home: a sofa that is beautiful, comfortable, and can move and grow with people over time.”
Floyd started in a garage in Corktown, then moved into Ponyride, and recently opened their headquarters and first retail space in Eastern Market.
