Don’t judge a book by its cover

On the outside, this home in Sherwood Forest for sale looks like a classic and charming Tudor. It’s got the stone and brick facade, exposed half-timbering, leaded-glass windows, and varied roof-line you’d expect in this kind of house. But inside, it’s filled with personal, vibrant, and surprising touches.

When we first featured this home in November last year, those details delighted some, but repelled others. Let’s revisit all the fascinating features of the 4,320-square-foot, seven-bedroom home that’s now listed for $485,000.

Take the living room, for example, which has (as one commenter noted) grass cloth wallpaper and red-painted trim. Or the dining room, which has blue-painted walls below the chair rail, wild sea creature wallpaper above, and gold-painted trim. What we think is the master bedroom has glossy green walls. Another of the six bedrooms is painted purple. There’s a wall-length waterfall print in yet another.

The owner clearly had fun decorating this house.

It’s not all eye-popping colors though. The study is covered in gorgeous wood paneling and detailed crown molding. The kitchen has a passthrough to the breakfast nook—whose floor has unique inset tiles. The butler’s pantry comes with great wood and leaded-glass cabinets that look original. There’s also an attached three-car garage, sunroom, and furnished basement with a wet bar.

19250 Canterbury Road is listed for $485,000 with Jan Dijkers of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Loft Warehouse.
