The 96-unit Hyde Park is one of several cooperatives in or near Lafayette Park. Built in the late 1960s, the community’s larger ranch homes and their private courtyards don’t hit the market too often.

One recently did. The one-story home on Hyde Park Drive is listed for $299,000.

Originally three bedrooms, the 1,295-square-foot ranch got a recent renovation that stripped one of the bedrooms, opened up the floorplan, and added a dining room. There’s now two brand new bathrooms—one with a walk-in shower and the other with a soaking tub—and a kitchen with glossy countertops, cabinets, and an induction stove.

The renovation also added a number of quirky, artsy features. Local graffiti artist Shades painted murals on the refrigerator and two track doors leading to the bathrooms. There’s also a kitchen skylight with framed paintings on the walls (unclear if those come with purchase of the home). The master bedroom has a blue-and-white floral design on one of the walls, and a chalkboard on another.

The living room has one of the community’s few natural fireplaces. There’s also an attached one-car garage, two enclosed courtyards, and a finished basement.

1929 Hyde Park Drive is co-listed with Jason Hill and Abby Joz of Historic Detroit Realty for $299,000.
