What $1,200 rents in Detroit right now

New, 2 comments

There’s apartments in Midtown, West Village, and the North End

Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals at or around $1,200.

West Village

This one-bed, one-bath apartment is less than a couple blocks away from all the new West Village shops on Agnes and Kercheval. It’s also got more modern amenities than most apartments outside the urban core.

But some of the artistic features on the exterior and in the lobby of this 1920s high-rise are really stunning, like stone columns, ceiling tiles, and elaborate carvings on the wood panels.

1000 Van Dyke Street is renting for $1,195 per month.

Midtown

When it was constructed over a decade ago, Studio One Apartments was one of the first multifamily, mixed-use new builds of the century. It’s got all the amenities of a modern apartment, including an on-site gym. And while may be slightly pricier per square foot than the other apartments on this list, the location right on Woodward is hard to beat.

Studio One offers several floors plans starting at $1,273 per month.

North End

This two-bed, one-bath is in a recently restored duplex. At 1,200 square feet, the unit is spacious and in a neighborhood that’s getting denser in a hurry. Everything has been updated—including brand new plumbing, electrical, and heating systems—along with refinished floors. We also love the wood molding in the dining room.

Russell Woods

This 1924 colonial underwent a pretty impressive restoration (take our word for it—we saw the “before” photos). It’s 1,142 square feet, three bedrooms, and has new everything: kitchen, bathrooms with tiles, countertops, and basement. There’s also a Florida room and two-car garage.

4251 Glendale Road is renting for $1,250.

Midtown

This one-bed, one-bath, 680-square-foot unit is in a handsome brick and stone apartment building called “The Trenton.” It’s been recently renovated and comes with refinished hardwood floors, and new cabinets and appliances. It also includes on-site parking but is within walking distance to everything in Midtown.

676 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is renting for $1,150.
