Spacious Midtown loft with distinctive stone facade asks $649K

Want to live in a former mortuary? That may be a morbid way to begin, but the Springfield Lofts, where this loft is located, was formerly home to the Springfield Metallic Casket Company and then Wayne State University’s Mortuary Science.

But we think that’s more cool history than deterrent. Besides, judging from the details on the stone facade, these morticians had pretty good taste.

But the price is definitely steep. At just under $370 per square foot, it’s at the upper end of what’s for sale in the city.
