New, 3 comments

At this price point, there’s homes in up-and-coming neighborhoods like Morningside and the North End

Welcome to this week’s Curbed Comparisons, where we look at homes for sale in different neighborhoods around Detroit. Today, we’re looking at houses within $20,000 of our budget: $180,000.

Morningside

This 1,686-square-foot, four-bedroom colonial sits right at the border of Morningside and East English Village. It’s got some bold color choices on the carpet, walls, and bathrooms, as well as a neat mosaic tile in the sun room addition. Also check out the ample yard.

13300 East Outer Drive drive is listed by Johnstone & Johnstone for $190,000.

West Village

The West Village has been one of the hottest neighborhoods for real estate over the last several years. That’s why this complete rehab is still going for nearly $200K. It’s six bedrooms, 2,500 square feet, with a lovely brick exterior. But to say the interior needs a ton of work is putting it mildly.

1724 Seyburn Street is listed by O’Connor Realty for $199,000.

North End

The upper unit on a unique-looking brick duplex (the lower unit is listed at $165,000) that’s gotten a sleek renovation. The three-bed, one-bath condo is 1,295 square feet and has refinished hardwood floors. The owners also get use of a two-car garage.

315 East Philadelphia Street is listed by City Living Detroit for $175,000.

Hamtramck

Right in the heart of Hamtramck, this four-bed, two-bath home was completely remodeled “down to the studs” in 2008, according to the realtor. Though it’s not a classic Hamtramck two-flat, it still has the unpretentious look (and siding) of the working-class town. It’s also got some unique ceiling molding throughout the house.

9429 Charest Street is listed by The Stemen Team for $185,000.

Core City

Another fully-renovated home in a centrally located neighborhood, Core City, which hasn’t seen nearly as much development as nearby Woodbridge or Corktown. It’s 2,200 square feet, has four bedrooms, and a nice-sized yard.

4670 18th St is listed for $175,000.
