What $1,000 rents in Detroit right now

Apartments in Brush and Lafayette parks, homes in the West Village and Banglatown

Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals at or around $1,000.

Denovo Real Estate
Lafayette Park

A 900-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment is renting for $1,050 on the north side of Lafayette Park. The fourth-floor loft has an open floor plan with a terrace that provides nice views of the surrounding area. It comes with a secured parking spot and is just blocks away from the Dequindre Cut and Eastern Market. The tenant has to pay for all utilities except water.

Zillow
West Village

A two-bedroom upper unit in a West Village duplex is renting for $1,070 a month. The square footage isn’t listed, but it seems like a sizable house. It’s right on Van Dyke, less than a block away from the commercial block on Agnes Street. The remodeled kitchen comes with appliances and a pass-through to a pretty spacious living room.

Platinum Real Estate
Arts District

On the Edsel Ford Freeway service drive just south of Milwaukee Junction, $1,000 a month will fetch you a 1,200-square-foot unit in a handsome six-unit brick apartment building built in 1911. The three-bed, one-bath has some nice looking hardwood floors and lots of wood molding. Split with a couple of friends and you’ve got a great deal on an apartment.

Via Property Shark
Brush Park

For $949 a month, you can rent a studio space in The Scott, a new-build apartment building in Brush Park. Studios can get up to 797 square feet, but all have essentially the same floor plan of living space with kitchen, plus one bathroom. All the units come with a balcony. The apartment building also has an outdoor swimming pool, gym, and underground parking.

Legacy LLC
Campau-Davison

There’s a variety of homes available at the new Emerald Springs Apartments in Banglatown, including both two- and three-bedroom units. This 1,402-square-foot, four-bedroom townhome is renting for $975 a month. The community offers a number of public spaces, including a fitness center, playground, and “clubhouse.” Individual apartments come with a washer and dryer unit.
