Welcome to the fun house

Several cute and artsy homes have hit the market in Detroit this summer. And this 1,078-square-foot shotgun house on 25th Street in Hubbard-Richard is one of our favorites. It’s listed through Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Loft Warehouse for $129,000.

The previous owners clearly customized everything and included all kinds of fun features to this house: wood shingle siding around the front door, reclaimed wood wall (with one multi-colored side) between the living room and kitchen, fossil-like granite countertop, and the fun and bright paint job throughout.

The first floor has an open floor plan with no doors and wide entryways. With a new hardware and faucet, the bathroom does feel like a bit of a mashup. There’s also some custom-built cabinets and shelving in several rooms.

The home also comes with two bedrooms (though one is quite small), plus a garage and carport.

It’s also in a great southwest neighborhood between Clark Park and Mexicantown, and a quick jaunt to Michigan Central Station.
