See what you can get in neighborhoods like East English Village, Green Acres, and Jefferson Chalmers

Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can buy for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at home sales at or around $200,000.

A 1,427-square-foot Colonial on Bishop Street is listed through O’Connor Real Estate for $195,000. The three-bedroom home has an attractive brick exterior with some stone accents. It’s undergone a substantial renovation inside, especially the brand new kitchen with flashy green tile backsplash. There’s also a cute little fireplace and ceiling medallion in the living room.

Jefferson Chalmers

A 2,584-square-foot Colonial on Lakewood Street is listed by Daniel Ericksen of Sotheby’s International Realty for $200,000. The six-bedroom home from 1936 has great bones, but needs a little love; there’s a couple of unfinished construction projects and the exterior looks like it could use some tuckpointing (though the roof is new). Importantly, the realtor says that even with recent flooding in Jefferson Chalmers, the basement of the home is dry.

A 2,126-square-foot home on Oakman Boulevard is listed through Hassan Shukr of Own It Realty for $199,900. This Colonial has an attractive brick exterior with the wood accents of a Tudor and some nice yew shrubs in the front yard. There’s three bedrooms, a living room with a great fireplace and mantel, and a butler’s pantry with glass doors. The kitchen does look like it needs updating, but overall it’s a fantastic place.

New Center

A 1,832-square-foot townhome on Lothrop Road is listed through Elizabeth Tintinalli of Real Estate One for $225,000. Easily the newest place on the list, the New Center home was built in 2000 and would be great for someone who works in the area. It’s got two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a neat kitchen with a passthrough to the dining room. There’s also an attached two-car garage.

Green Acres

A 1,515-square-foot brick home on Gardendale is listed for $209,900. This unassuming little Colonial in the historic Green Acres neighborhood has been completely renovated. The wood floors, kitchen (appliances, granite countertops, cabinets), wall paint, bathrooms (tiles, sink)—everything has been updated. There’s even a new epoxy basement floor to add to the home’s storage and usable space.
