Eastern Market is one of Detroit’s most cherished neighborhoods. But because of its lack of housing, few places go up for sale there. And when they do, they tend to be quite coveted.

That’s why this 1,495-square-foot loft that just hit the market is listed for $469,500.

The unit on Russell Street is in a former Detroit Fire Department station and repair center built in 1917. The long brick building houses the event space The Eastern, as well the FD Lofts, 30 units converted from apartments into condos in 2014.

At two bedrooms, it’s one of the larger units in the building. The master bedroom has its own entrance with a lounge space and a lofted bed. The high-ceilinged main space has a living room on a polished concrete floor, huge industrial windows, and an open kitchen. There’s also one and a half bathrooms, in-unit laundry, and two gated parking spaces.

In addition to those who enjoy loft living, a major appeal is the proximity to the vibrant market area. It’s also right next door to the restaurant Sala Thai and art gallery the Wasserman Projects.

3434 Russell Street #203 is listed with Maura Sanders of NextHome All Pro Realty for $469,500. Unfortunately photography isn’t quite as good for this listing, but still take a look.
