5 open houses to check out around Detroit this weekend

There’s a wide range of homes you could visit this weekend, starting at just over $100,000

Whether you’re looking to buy or just enjoy checking out the city’s architecture, open houses can be a fun and informative way to get a firsthand look at Detroit homes. This week’s options include a French colonial in Arden Park, a fourplex in Springwells, a Tudor-style home in University District, and more.

When: Saturday, February 29 from 1-3 p.m.
Specs: 5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms, 7,722 square feet
Selling points: The brick French colonial in Arden Park has tons of curb appeal. It’s got a stunning stone-accented exterior with three dormer windows, and the front entrance has a frieze that showcases some impressive stonework. The home also recently got new plumbing, electrical, and paint, so this won’t be a huge historic restoration project. Its price has been reduced since first listing in August last year.

Selling points: This large Tudor-style home is in the great neighborhood of University District. Its got an attractive brick exterior with some nice lintels around the windows. Inside, most of it is in solid shape: There’s fresh hardwood floors in the living and dining rooms, and the walls and ceilings seem free of damage. But the kitchen has been partially pulled up and will need to be rebuilt. There’s lots of potential here though.
