Highland Park has arguably the greatest collection of bungalows anywhere in Southeast Michigan. There you can find lots of homes similar to this one on Colorado Street—though it probably won’t be in nearly as good a shape. It also recently got a price cut to $144,900.
This charming little home was built all the way back in 1912, according to the listing. It’s got a wonderful stucco exterior around its wide front porch and a dormer with cedar shake siding. There’s also a deep back yard and deck.
The 1,474-square-foot, three-bedroom home has been completely updated inside. The large living room, with its brick fireplace, flows through a wide entryway into the dining room—both have coffered ceilings. The brand new kitchen comes with soft close cabinet doors and granite countertops. There’s also a some well-placed built-in shelves throughout the house, and everything has been plainly painted to allow for customization.
Of course, some will balk at buying a home in Highland Park, which has suffered economically for years. There aren’t a ton of comps in the neighborhood, though a handful of homes have sold in the last couple years for more. Either way, we sure do love this charming home.
158 Colorado Street is listed with Bill Swanson of O’Connor Real Estate for $144,900.
