It was on the market for a while, but an impressive midcentury home in Palmer Woods has finally sold.
The 5,000-square-foot home on Lucerne Drive was listed with Austin Black of City Living Detroit and closed in late February for $735,000. It first listed in October 2019 for $785,000.
Built in 1954, the long and sprawling home looks like it came straight from Los Angeles. With its wet bar, billiards room, mirror-walled sitting room, and huge butler’s pantry, it’s ideal for entertaining. It also has the largest screened-in porch we’ve ever seen (which also has a lovely stone floor) that leads to the backyard containing a swimming pool.
The Detroit Free Press wrote a nice profile of the ranch-style home and the intensive renovation required after a gaudy makeover by the previous owners. In place of gold swan faucets and fuzzy, flocked walls, there’s now understated touches like oak paneling and a sandstone fireplace.
See our original piece on the home for more photography and details.
