Wayne County announced that they’re eliminating the Gratiot site as a future jail location, leaving it open to Rock Ventures for a future mixed-use development.
In this proposed deal, the city would get the AMC headquarters site on Plymouth Road, while the county gets the Warren Avenue site where Rock Ventures would build a criminal justice complex.
Wayne County announced that they’ll try to reach a deal with Dan Gilbert’s Rock Ventures for the fail jail site. While it’s not a done deal yet, this proposal would bring a soccer stadium, offices, and more to the downtown site.
Both Walsh Construction and Rock Ventures have submitted their final proposals for the fail jail site. We could hopefully know the outcome by the end of July.
The study says that Rock Ventures’ proposal for the soccer stadium and consolidated jail would create a $2.39 billion economic impact for Wayne County and SE Michigan.
Wayne County agreed to vet Rock Venture’s offer. In this offer, Rock would build a sports & entertainment complex on the site and build Wayne County a new criminal justice facility at another location.
Rock Ventures has offered Wayne County to build a Criminal Justice Complex at East Forest and I-75 in exchange for the fail jail site at Gratiot and 375.
