Vinyl has been on a comeback over the last decade. And since Third Man Records opened its Vinyl Pressing Plant, Detroiters can even watch their vinyl being made in front of them.

There have always been plenty of places around the city to dig through crates and find that hidden gem you've been looking for. But more stores have opened in recent years and it’s never been better time to be a record collector in metro Detroit.

Record Store Day is Saturday, April 13 this year, and many of these shops will have special events and deals throughout the day. See the official list of RSD participants to find out what each is offering, especially since some sought-after items can sell out quick.

Did we forget your favorite? Do you love a certain place in the suburbs? Is there a hidden spot we just haven't seen yet? Let us know in the comments or on the tip line.

Note: Stores are arranged geographically from west to east.

Found Sound

Found Sound in downtown Ferndale has a huge selection of well-organized vinyl to dig through. It also offers more new vinyl than your typical record store and will place orders on those you can’t find.

Rock City Records

After having to leave its Jefferson Chalmers storefront, Rock City Records has been searching for a permanent location. Lately, it’s been popping up at Ponyride on the weekends and will do so for Record Store Day. Though it won’t be selling any RSD merchandize, used and new inventory will be 30 and 10 percent off, respectively.

Record Graveyard

Record Graveyard in Hamtramck is a crate-digger’s dream—there’s always one or two records in the collection you can’t find anywhere else. It’s also wonderfully stodgy place that doesn’t sell any new vinyl, which means it doesn’t really participate in RSD.

Also, the staff is extremely helpful and will often give discounts when you purchase multiple records.
